Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion To Present Rabbi Mark Goldfarb with the Doctor of Divinity Degree, honoris causa

Rabbi Aaron D. Panken, Ph.D., President of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR), will award Rabbi Mark with the Doctor of Divinity at Graduation Ceremonies in Los Angeles, on May 16, 2016, at Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills. Rabbi Goldfarb will be honored for 25 years of distinguished professional service as an alumnus of HUC-JIR.

President Panken stated, “We honor Rabbi Goldfarb for his dedicated service to the Jewish people and the larger world, by fostering learning, community, social justice, and continuity of our heritage.”

Rabbi Goldfarb was ordained in 1991 and served congregations in Texas, Michigan, Ohio and southern California. In addition, Rabbi Goldfarb is a professionally trained chaplain and served as a chaplain for hospice, senior care centers, state prisons and hospitals. Rabbi Goldfarb helped found Zusman Hospice at the Wexner Heritage Village in Columbus, Ohio.

Rabbi Mark Goldfarb brings with him a contagious enthusiasm, sense of humor, and a passion for teaching Judaism. Rabbi Goldfarb responds to the needs of the congregation and its members through innovative programming, the creation of meaningful, moving worship experiences and life cycle events, and opportunities for enrichment that expand the horizons of our knowledge and deepen our connection to the spiritual. Rabbi Goldfarb explores Judaism with our youth through creative Judaic and Hebrew learning, creates stimulating, life- long learning opportunities for adults, and responds to the needs of those in interfaith relationships with sensitivity, openness and support.
